One of the best things about Austin is its plethora of places to enjoy a damn good margarita. Whether you’re celebrating Cinco de Mayo or looking for a list of spots where you can sip on a marg any day of the year, we’ve got you covered. We’ve broken it down by the variety of margarita.

Happy Hour Margarita: Salty Sow

It’s hard not to be at Salty Sow’s happy hour every day of the week. Monday through Friday from 4-6 you can choose a tasty margarita from their list of “signature ritas.” Or two. Or three.

$5 Margarita: Licha’s Cantina

Licha’s makes a mean margarita at all times, but the best time to enjoy them is on their patio during happy hour when they’re only $5. Come between 4 and 6 Tuesday through Friday to enjoy a marg made with exotico reposado tequila, combier, lime and agave.

Fancy Margarita: La Condesa

You fancy, huh? Head to La Condesa for creative and delicious margaritas in a stylish setting. We recommend the Margarita La Condesa or the Alma Blanca.

Frozen Margarita: Yellow Jacket Social Club

There are few things better than drinking frozen margaritas outside on a beautiful day. We’re big fans of sipping on Yellow Jacket’s frozen margs while playing with pups on their dog friendly patio. Pro tip: ask the bartenders to mix the frozen lemonade and the frozen margarita.

Margarita in a Martini Glass: Fonda San Miguel

If you like your margaritas up, visit Fonda San Miguel and ask for a Numero Uno Margarita. With, T1 Reposado Tequila, Grand Marnier Centenaire, agave nectar and lime juice, they’re number one in our book.

Cheap Margarita Bar: Polvos

If quantity is what you’re after, grab a group of friends and head to Polvos for pitchers. You can get them frozen or on the rocks. You’ll probably get buzzed. You’ll definitely eat too many chips.

Chile Margarita: El Alma

For a margarita with a kick, El Alma is the move. Their Margarita Chilanga is a delightful contrast of refreshing (orange and frozen) and fiery (Valentina and chile lime rim). Best enjoyed on their rooftop with a view of the skyline.

Flavored Margarita: Vivo

Vivo has an extensive selection of flavored margaritas: cucumber, tamarind, hibiscus, you name it. They’re tasty, AND beautiful.

Classic Margarita: The Roosevelt Room

The Roosevelt Room is a cocktail bar, and their classic margarita is a testament to the bar’s dedication to making killer drinks. Simple and perfect, they’re made with silver tequila, lime and Cointreau. They’re also only $7 during happy hour: all day Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday through Saturday from 5-7 pm.

Mezcal Margarita: Weather Up

This classy bar does not mess around when it comes to mezcal. Called Maxie Fields, this marg has mezcal, 10 year Ardbeg, roasted pineapple, chili, fresh lemon juice and Hawaiian black sea salt.
